The pace of urbanization has slowed in the U.S. You can see that in this chart. The line on the graph shows the percentage of the U.S. population living in rural communities. There was a big decline in this percentage early in the last century, but the line has leveled out since the 1970s. The total number of rural Americans has stayed about the same (see the green bar) or grown a bit recently.
