Here is a satellite shot of the Mississippi River (or what’s left of it) near Greenville, Mississippi, just a few days ago. You can see the sand bars rising and barges stacked up, waiting for an 11 mile stretch of the river to clear. A barge ran aground earlier in the month and has been blocking traffic. Some 100 barges are waiting to get through the clogged part of the river.
