In small towns, libraries aren’t just book dispensaries: they’re often the hubs of learning. There are likely to be adult literacy classes, summer camps, and meetings of the ham radio club all within whispering distance of the circulation desk.

A message from the Rural Assembly

The National Center for Family Literacy has been charged with creating a state of the art family learning center in a rural community and is seeking applicants.

“Funding secured for this initiative will provide: new furnishings and equipment conducive to family learning; a learning curriculum, supplies and materials; and staffing to provide regularly scheduled family learning events and staffed hours of operation.”
