This chart ranks the states by the rate of U.S. Army recruits from urban counties in 2008.

Tim Murphy/NPP This chart shows the U.S. Army recruitment rate in the exurban counties in each state. The rate is figured by dividing the total number of recruits by the population of people 15 to 24 years of age, multiplied by 1,000.
